Lists & Links

Everything I share and write about on When We Were Seven.

of books

I list each book I’ve quoted or referenced in a When We Were Seven Bookshop.org List. This is an affiliate-linked list that benefits my local indie-bookstore directly. I hope you’ll consider purchases from here, but the list is primarily just a cool way to maintain a list of books. (Learn more about bookshop.org and support YOUR local indie bookstore.)

of songs

I’ve made a playlist on Spotify for When We Were Seven.

of videos

  • What Did They Say?” by Kevin Jin Kwan Kim. 1 minute film. His post on IG began, “I immigrated to Canada at 7 years old, and as the story usually goes, I learned English much faster than my parents and ended up as the family translator…”

of essays

  • Brad Snyder’s essay in Huffpost Personal contains the line, “I was 7 and lying on the examination table at my pediatrician’s office.”

  • Charles Duffie’s flash piece, “The New World” in The Atticus Review in 2019 begins, “I was seven years old when mom took me to Japan.” [WWW7 Issue Charles, age 7]

  • Christine Caprio’s “Believe in Magic” in Yankee Magazine. “I was 7 years old, peering into the palm of the naturalist who was leading my family’s dune buggy tour in the outermost dunes of Provincetown, on Cape Cod.”

  • T.S. Davis’ flash piece, “My First Inkling” in New York Times Tiny Love Stories (Not the title essay, but the first one in the list.) “When I was 7, my grandmother told me she saw Haley’s comet in 1910.”

My very own card catalogue. It makes me happy.
